Changes to Ireland’s Personal Insolvency Regime

The Personal Insolvency (Amendment) Act 2015 (the “Act”) was signed into law on 28 July 2015.  It introduces a number of changes to the Personal Insolvency Act 2012 (the “2012 Act”).
Tom Murray highlights all the key changes that practitioners should be aware about and discusses the implications of same.

Changes include:

  • The establishment of a Circuit Court review mechanism in instances where creditors reject a borrower’s proposal for a Personal Insolvency Arrangement
  • Changes to Debt Relief Notice provisions
  • Increased functions and powers of the ISI
  • Increased supervision of PIP’s


Tom will also take an in-depth look at some of the key case law that has being created over the past two years
