Speaker: Sean McLoughney, Learning Curve

Key Course Details

The workplace is a hive of activity where many different personality types take on the daily challenge of completing their tasks in a professional way. It is also a naturally stressful environment where conflict between co-workers, management and staff and also between departments is a common occurrence for many. Your ability to recognise when conflict is taking place, establishing the root cause of the conflict and being able to bring about a quick and fair resolution are essential in dealing with difficult situations. Conflict happens, however in most situations if you deal with it early you can avoid potentially serious fallout.

During this session Sean McLoughney will share some skills and techniques to deal with conflict and difficult conversations in a positive way.

Some key strategies that are explored during this session include:

  • What are the typical causes of workplace conflict and what impact does it have on the working environment
  • What are the symptoms of conflict that you should be aware of and deal with as soon as possible
  • What is happening when conflict is taking place? What are people looking for?
  • How to handle difficult conversations by using the 3 step approach (Empathise -Explore – Explain) to turn difficult conversations into a successful outcome
