Plan your Career Strategy
Having a career strategy is vital. It can help you manage the direction you want your career to take, the job skills and knowledge you will need, and how you can acquire them. A career strategy is a structured approach to developing capabilities, tools and resources to enable you to navigate your career path successfully. It will guide you to work out which role you should take next and which role / business / industry will best help you to get to where you want to be. Sometimes a sideways or even backwards step is the best move, sometimes you need to take a stepping stone to get to where you want to be. Remember you might be working for the next 40 years, so taking a role for 18 months in what might not be your ideal position could be the best move for you long term.
