Managing change in the workplace

Speaker: Sean McLoughney, LearningCurve

Overview

Managing change has become increasingly more challenging over the last few years and it is unlikely to become easier in the years ahead. Arguably the greatest obstacle to successfully and smoothly implementing any change is your people. Introducing a work related change, whether large or small, is achieved with the cooperation and support of management and staff. It requires you as the manager to challenge the mind-set, inspire the change and embed the new culture.
This can be achieved through implementing a systematic approach to change and gaining the full commitment from all key stakeholders. During this webinar Sean McLoughney will share his perspective on how to manage change in the workplace.

Some key strategies that are explored during this webinar include:

Awareness - Clear understanding of their current position, outline key reasons for change and consequences if no change takes place, describe what success looks like
Leading - Benefits of change for individual/team and how it outweighs any negatives, communicating an inspiring vision and compelling story and gaining a commitment to change
Preparation – understanding the change and how it impacts people, coaching and learning how to use new skills, overcoming resistance, devising a systematic plan for change
Action - Initial adoption of the change, testing on trial basis, self-monitoring, achieving quick wins, opportunities for reflections and comparisons, confirmation that new behaviour/activity works better old ones
Maintenance - Anchoring the new change, consolidation of the improvement made and integration into new work practice and norms, reinforcement of desired position, receiving feedback on how the change is going
