Investigating Fraud in SMEs Workshop

Successfully preventing and combatting fraud can be the difference between profit and loss for SMEs. However, professionals tasked with investigating fraud involving employees require specific skills and knowledge to ensure that they can detect and investigate fraud while keeping on the right side of the law.

This workshop will provide delegates with all the critical accounting principles and investigative techniques that will assist you protecting your clients and or organisations from devastating losses and reputational issues due to fraud. The workshop will provide practical tips on knowing the financial areas that are most vulnerable, as well as how to implement effective investigation processes when fraud is suspected.

Covering basic accounting principles as they apply to forensic accounting and the most common types of fraud, delegates will examine the investigative process, with commentary around documentary evidence, the role of the expert witness, and interview techniques.

Trainer:

Michael is an experienced fraud investigator with over 20 years’ experience of managing internal and external fraud cases, working with many of the largest financial institutions and brands in both the UK and Ireland, including Barclays, AXA, Santander, Danske Bank, AIB and more recently he set up his own consultancy practice before moving to Mazars. Michael has specialised in internal investigations that are both large in value and complex in nature and has lead teams of experts to provide elegant solutions that has delivered commercial benefit for the business. Michaels work experience is underpinned by a deep technical knowledge and is also supported by a Masters in Fraud Management and Certified Fraud Examiner status.
