Project Management for Accountants

Speaker: Michael Healy
Location: Dublin

This course is designed to give a general overview of project management, why it is necessary and how it is delivered. It will cover the full project cycle using the project management triangle of managing time, cost, and scope, whilst maintaining quality, understanding risk management and the interaction of different project stakeholders. The aim is to enlighten participants around the terminology used in project management and allow them the fundamental skills to understand the issues in rolling out a project, both large or small.

Course Overview

This one day course will commence with outlining what a project is and explore the risks associated with it. There will be examples of project management throughout. The attendees will learn to appreciate the value of professional project management by breaking down how a project is initiated, planned, and executed to ensure the optimal end result is achieved.

Initially we will discuss terminology associated with Project Management and what it means. Then we will progress into the project management triangle to identify any issues that may arise from a project, the implications they can cause, and how to manage them. We will follow this with scheduling and reporting and finally project close out and analysis.

There will be a key emphasis on effective project communication, and the importance on measuring current state and forcasting future state with regular reporting and management of stakeholders.

By the end of the day, the student will have a clear understanding of the role of the project manager and the importance of project management to the organisation.
