Diploma in Data Analytics - DUBLIN

Due to the success of the first running of the Diploma in Data Analytics, we are delighted to annouce the next intake of this course will be in September 2020. Data Analytics was one of the topics most requested by Members in our Training Needs Analysis Survey. This course will provide a high-level understanding of the main concepts associated with data analytics through the use of Rstudio and Excel. The course will teach you the tools to help you use analytics to formulate and support them in solving business problems and communicating that analysis to a management team.

This course is delivered over 5 full-day sessions (9:30am - 5pm) between September 2020 and March 2021. Participants will earn 8 CPD hours for each session (40 hours for the full course). Participants will be given access to our online learning management system, Canvas, where additional resources and activities will be made available.

In order to gain the Diploma, participants must successfully complete an assessment (assignment and examination)

Important: Anything we do will be in line with government recommendations regading social distancing. If restrictions are still in place by September, we may only be able to provide this course via livestream.  

Learning outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, attendees will have an understanding of:

  • Data Analytics Tools: Acquire skills you can exercise in your work and develop an appreciation of how data-driven models can enhance your capacity to make prompt, more informed decisions.
  • Data Visualization and Data Transformation Skills: Develop skills to clearly report your analysis to all relevant stakeholders. Learn to evaluate the reliability of data, extract key business insights, and apply modelling to predict future trends.

  • Excel and RStudio: Acquire training in Excel and RStudio for filtering small and large datasets, graphing same using RStudio Tidyverse. IBM Watson studio will also be introduced.

  • Machine Learning Techniques: Demonstrate your capacity to apply your data skills, leverage data using standard machine learning techniques and extract business insights often hidden in unrefined data banks.

Session 1: Friday 16th October 2020 – Intro to data and descriptive stats

Session 2: Friday 4th December 2020 – Model estimation and evaluation

Session 3: Friday 15th January 2021 – Models of qualitative choice and machine learning

Session 4: Friday 19th February 2021 – Risk models and predictive analysis

Session 5: Friday 12th March 2021 – Exam review
