About the Speakers

Mark Thompson, Partner, A&L Goodbody

Mark Thompson is a partner in A&L Goodbody's Corporate and M&A practice in Belfast. Mark is widely experienced in company and commercial law, with particular sectoral experience in the areas of energy and natural resources, healthcare and media, intellectual property and technology matters. Mark’s corporate practice focuses on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, management buyouts, reorganisations and strategic advice. Mark also leads the commercial team and has extensive experience advising on commercial contracts and trading arrangements.

Gemma Johnson, Director, Grant Thornton
Gemma Johnson has over 20 years’ experience working in practice with a focus on advising high net worth individuals and private business owners based locally, nationally and internationally, on all aspects of personal tax.  She regularly advises wealthy individuals in respect of income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax planning; ensuring their specific objectives are met as tax-efficiently as possible.  Gemma specialises in structuring and planning for privately held business interests; designing bespoke, tax-efficient solutions for shareholders whether they are planning for a sale, focused on growth or considering succession.
